Church challenge

Robert Anderson (Letters, 12 March) lists the things which have been most damaging to the Catholic Church over the years which, to his mind, include the publication of Darwin’s Origin of Species, the sudden availability of birth control pills and “the disproportionate influence of current homosexual political ideology”.

It seems to me that an institution whose greatest enemies are scientific truth, women’s control of their own bodies and universal equality has problems all of its own.
