Data Retention Policy

1. Use of personal information and disclosures

I. We keep and use personal information collected for the purposes of:
(a) Maintaining a membership and subscription register
(b) Responding to your querie
(c) Keeping you updated on ESS affairs
(d) Keeping you updated about other ESS events, issues and news of interest to you
(e) Campaigning on secular issues locally and nationally [Scotland and UK]
(f) Fundraising for local events and activities.

II. As required, in carrying out the above, we will not pass the information you provide to another organisation.

We will make any additional disclosures to third parties only where we identify the organisation to whom we wish to send your details and when you have provided your written (or emailed) consent to us. We also use information in aggregate form (so that nobody may identify an individual member):
(a) To build public community secular awareness, needs and objectives.
(b) To aid strategic secular policy development in cooperation with local and national government, and non-governmental organisations.
(c) To provide relevant secular-focussed events, services, and resources for our membership: this may include acting in association with other relevant organisations.

2. Obtaining Information

You have the right to apply for a copy of the information we hold about you and to have any inaccuracies corrected (we reserve the right to make a small charge to cover the cost of providing you with a copy of the information which we hold about you).

3. Information we keep on file (we may retain only some of these items, as appropriate):

1. Your name
2. Your address
3. Your phone number
4. Your email address
5. The details of any issues of direct concern to you, or a topic about which you have contacted us
6. Correspondence (including emails) relating to items in 5. above (including that with relevant third parties).
